It has been a busy day for the Oakland Raiders as news that Oakland native and retired Seattle Seahawks running back Marshawn Lynch’s plans to come out of retirement and join the team after meeting with Raiders coach Jack Del Rio Wednesday.
However, Lynch isn’t the only Seahawks player that Oakland should be interested in with news that Pro Bowl cornerback Richard Sherman is on the trading bloc.
Almost simultaneously with today’s Lynch news, Seahawks general manager John Schneider confirmed the rumors surround his cornerback Richard Sherman on the Brock and Salk show on ESPN Wednesday stating “what you’ve seen lately in the news is real.”
Despite the reality of the Sherman reports, NFL history has shown fans that placing a player on the trading block (or even beginning negotiations with other teams for that matter), doesn’t assure that anything will happen for anyone involved.
As such, it remains unlikely that Sherman truly ends up traded away from Seattle unless another team is willing to pay an extremely hefty price.
Raiders general manager Reggie McKenzie should at least entertain the idea of seeing what it would take to swing a deal for the outspoken cornerback, however, he should do without overpaying.
A fact that will likely leave Oakland on the outside looking in on the Sherman sweepstakes as free agency talks begin to heat up again with the 2017 NFL draft drawing close.
Fans can voice their opinions on whether or not Sherman is worth pursuing via the poll below.
