Former San Diego Chargers running back LaDainian Tomlinson caught up with Mighty 1090AM’s Marty Caswell to talk football. When asked who the team to beat is in the AFC West, he replied that the Raiders are “at the top of the list.”
Tomlinson went on to support his decision by saying that Oakland deserved the top spot because of the “talent that they have.” Also, their “young nucleus of players . . . are growing together,” which Tomlinson said was “scary.”
He also had good news for the rest of the division as Tomlinson predicts that the 2016 AFC West champs, Kansas City Chiefs, will take “a step back” opening the door for the Los Angeles Chargers and Raiders.
Oakland seems to have separated themselves from the pack with Raiders superstar quarterback Derek Carr entering his fourth season and the recent offensive acquisitions that will frighten any defense in the NFL.
The one weakness of Oakland’s offense seemed to be impactfully running the football, but any concerns should be alleviated once Raiders running back Marshawn Lynch steps on the field behind the Raiders’ dominant offensive line.
As long as the defense holds up, then Tomlinson’s predictions should come true for Oakland and the Raiders should be head and shoulders above the rest of the AFC West.
