Earlier today, it was announced that Raiders quarterback Derek Carr is close to signing a new deal worth around $25 million per year, per ESPN’s Adam Schefter.
However, Carr came out with a tweet trying to slow down the rumors that a deal was finalized. Nonetheless, it seems like a deal will get done soon as Carr said there is no deal done “yet.”
Nothing done yet… trust me you will hear it here first.

Key word here: yet.
Deal in place; getting done, soon. Only language remains.
Announcement still could be this week. Congrats in advance. https://t.co/UjziUq25TC

Carr just doesn’t want to count his chickens before they hatch, but his record-breaking payday should be done “soon”, per Schefter, anytime this week or the next.
In the end, no one should read too much into this exchange. Schefter is rarely wrong and it is only a matter of time before Oakland can call their quarterback the highest-paid player in the NFL.
