Today is the second day of the Raiders Wire’s countdown to the Oakland Raiders’ training camp which begins on July 24. Until that day, we will count down the best Raider to wear each jersey number from No. 26 to No. 1 and will now look at No. 25.
The No. 25 was just worn by former Raiders cornerback DJ Hayden, but Raider Nation wouldn’t be too happy to see him on this list. Luckily, there is an easy replacement for Hayden, former Raiders Hall of Fame wide receiver Fred Biletnikoff.
Biletnikoff was selected in the second round of the 1965 AFL draft. He actually started his career wearing No. 14, but switched to the recognizable No. 25 shortly after and played in 190 games for the Silver and Black.
During his career, Biletnikoff hauled in 589 receptions for 8,974 yards and an amazing 76 touchdowns. He was also the MVP of Super Bowl XI in which Oakland beat the Minnesota Vikings.
Overall, Biletnikoff is one of the best Raiders players of all time and earned every bit of his 1988 Hall of Fame induction making him easily the best No. 25 in the franchise’s history.
