Sunday is the day No. 11 of Raiders Wire’s countdown to the Oakland Raiders’ training camp which begins on July 24. Until that day, we will count down the best Raider to wear each jersey number from No. 26 to No. 1 and will now look at No. 16.

This number carries a ton of weight in the Silver and Black as one Hall of Famer wore it, Raiders kicker/quarterback George Blanda, and one two-time Super Bowl champion wore it, Raiders quarterback Jim Plunkett.

However, it is not the Hall of Famer who gets the honor of being the best No. 16, but it is Plunkett. Blanda played mostly kicker for Oakland whereas Plunkett played quarterback and won the Super Bowl twice, giving him the slightest edge.
