Gideon George Withdraws Himself From NBA Draft, Returns To BYU!!

After participating in various NBA tryouts, Gideon George has decided to remove his name from consideration for the NBA Draft and return to BYU for his senior year. Jeff Goodman was the first to break the news, and I've received confirmation from other sources. Gideon George Pulls Out Of The NBA Draft And Goes Back To BYU For His Last Year!! It was anticipated that Gideon would eventually remove his name from consideration for the draft and return to BYU, but he made the decision public before the June 1 cutoff date. He went through pre-draft workouts with the Denver Nuggets and the Utah Jazz, and he spent the previous week in Chicago doing pre-draft activities with his agency and other NBA Draft candidates. After beginning his career at the junior college level, Gideon will play his third season with the BYU Cougars the following year. Gideon averaged 8.8 points and 5 rebounds for BYU this past season. He shot 44 percent from the field and 35 percent from three-point range, helping him finish as the fourth-best scorer for the Cougars.  His success arc improved dramatically in the second half of the season, culminating in a career-high 27-point effort against Northern Iowa in the second round of the NIT. He made five of nine three-point shots in that game. If he can maintain the shooting form he showed throughout the last two months, NBA clubs will most certainly take notice of him in the next season. There are still two spots on the BYU roster for next year's scholarship program. In my most recent mailbag, I discussed who BYU is trying to recruit and other BYU Hoops-related news.On the same day that he worked out with the Utah Jazz before the draft, reports surfaced on Sunday that BYU's Gideon George would allegedly be returning...

NBA Finals – Bound Celtics Beat Miami Heat With Picture!!!

The Boston Celtics were desperate to win Game 4 of the Eastern Conference Finals at home only six days ago. In a heartbreaking defeat, the Miami Heat's top forward, Jimmy Butler, played 0 minutes in the second half as they fell 2-1 in the series. The Celtics Beat The Heat With Picture! Did Perfect Defense Prepare Them For The Next Test? Last Monday, the Celtics had only lost two quarters in three games at coach Ime Udoki's pre-game news conference. This unique number became the subject of discussion. Udoka said the most important thing was to "remain consistent and not fall off the cliff as we did in those two quarters when our offense didn't go" rather than how many 12-minute periods they lost. During the third quarter of Game 1, Boston scored 39 points, but they surrendered precisely the same amount of points in the first quarter of the third game. The Celtics' Picture-Perfect Defense Helped them Defeat The Heat: The Boston Celtics, on the other hand, found it to be fair. When they beat Miami, their defense allowed 26 or fewer points in 13 of the 16 quarters they faced. Sunday's 100-96 playoff game was one of the other three as the Heat scored 32 points in the second quarter of Game 7 courtesy of Butler's genius and Boston sending them to the free-throw line time and time again. They were both fourth quarters of high-profile victories. Miami only scored more than 26 points nine times in the 28 quarters that comprised the run, including two extended intervals. They also had a strong defense and had a chance to win in the last seconds, but their offensive – which was above average throughout the regular season – became too frequent and loud to overcome that. As Miami coach Eric Spoelstra put it, "We...

Erik Spoelstra Says Max Strus’ Overturned 3 In-Game 7 A ‘Case Study’ For The NBA!

A controversial call in the third quarter of Game 7 of the Eastern Conference Finals might serve as a "case study" for future NBA replay reviews, according to Miami Heat coach Erik Spoelstra and his staff, after their "heartbreaking" loss to the Boston Celtics. Max Strus' Overturned 3 In-Game 7 Will Be An NBA 'Case Study,' Says Erik Spoelstra! Heat player Max Strus sank a deep 3-pointer with 11:04 left in the third quarter, reducing Boston's halftime advantage to 56-54 after making a 3-pointer from deep inside the lane from a long distance. Replay reviewers in Secaucus, New Jersey, reversed the ruling after the Celtics had gone on their run for many minutes. Afterward, Spoelstra Admitted He Was In "Shock" At The Loss Of Points At the time, Erik Spoelstra said he had not seen a replay showing Strus' foot just brushing the out-of-bounds line. Being three, four, or five minutes into the game when it occurred affects your strategy. We were gaining some traction. The only reason for a 7- or 8-point game turning into a 13-point game is that it has been sent back to the league administration. You believe that if anything like that occurs, you should be able to react quickly and effectively." Amidst the annoyance of Spoelstra's reversal, he repeatedly stated that this was not a factor in his team losing. Because we couldn't obtain the ball, a large portion of the game was controlled by Boston. Despite our best efforts, we were unable to secure the victory. We were unable to generate enough chances throughout the game. It seemed like we were fighting back from an eight-to-ten-point lead for most of the game. Coach Erik Spoelstra Of The Miami Heat Says Max Strus' 3 In-Game 7 Was Overturned! This play will come up in future league meetings under Spoelstra's tutelage....
