An Analysis Of The NBA Draft 2022 Winners And Losers!
Although the NBA Draft got off to a big surprise, the picks themselves provided the most of the fireworks as the trade market dried up. Here are the winners and losers from the Draft night.
Winners And Losers In The NBA Draft 2022
So much for those mock Drafts, I suppose. After weeks and weeks of stories that Jabari Smith Jr. was the undisputed #1 pick, everybody outside the Magic war room was shocked when Orlando selected Paolo Banchero as their first choice.
There were more aftershocks that followed. Who emerged victorious? With a new installment of NBA Draft Winners and Losers, our NBA crew goes over all the major developments of the evening.
But let's all be honest. We won't actually know the actual winners and losers till the 2025 drafts. So till then, here are the winners and losers in my and the general public's opinion (with a pinch of salt):
Winner Paolo Banchero And His Bettors
It goes without saying that the media and their insider sources in the league were perplexed when the betting markets changed dramatically starting just over 24 hours before the selection and money began pouring in on Paolo Banchero going first overall.
A little over 12 hours before the selection, Adrian Wojnarowski even tweeted a clear prediction that Jabari Smith would be selected first overall, followed by Chet Holmgren and Banchero.
The sharps were on to something, it turns out. Wojnarowski and other news outlets started to change their tune an hour or so before the Draft. It was obvious that the Magic would take Banchero by the time Adam Silver announced that they were running out of time. Some shrewd bettors profited greatly.

AVS Fan Banned From Ball Arena Says Penalty Was Deserved
Clark said that passion is one separate thing, but the way he handled the Avs went even beyond that. Therefore, in his opinion, the results were well worth it.
Ryan Clark was chuckling to himself as he sat in his Arvada house. He was grinning broadly and sporting his Avs jersey as he recalled the day in January when he received that crucial letter.
AVS Fan Banned From Ball Arena Says Penalty Was Deserved
He said, "I wish I could find it so I could show you." He laughed and stated, "It was them keeping me out of Ball Arena for the rest of the season of Avalanche. Like I stated, absolutely worth every penny.”
Now that Clark is aware Kyle Stark is presumably also an ardent Atlanta Hawks fan, he can laugh.
"I suppose the best way to say it is "thick as thieves," you know. I would Facetime the games for him, and we would both watch them "explained Clark. The following day, I received the call.
Kyle's family informed Clark about the passing of his best friend over the phone in December. It was a few days before Kyle, who was 31 years old, would spend Christmas with his family.
His funeral had an Avs motif. Kyle's mother distributed pucks, Clark donned a jersey, and the following day Clark brought Kyle's ashes to the Avs game.
"I kind of glanced at them at that moment and thought, "I'd want to get 'em on the ice." He would choose that ice if he had to choose a place for his ashes to rest."
Kyle's ashes were scattered over the rink wall by Clark. A Zamboni finished the job shortly after.

The NBA Draft Has Scheme But No Clear Cut Superstars!
As we all know, The players selected in the NBA Draft are not everything. Although Jabari Smith Jr., Chet Holmgren, and Paolo Banchero are considered to be the top three prospects, there will be a lot more going on behind the scenes in the days leading up to and during the selection on Thursday.
The NBA Draft Has Scheme But No Clear Cut Superstars!
There are plenty of opportunities for trades this year because several teams are willing to sell their picks. With NBA parity at an all-time high, there are plenty of opportunities to make a significant move and shake things up.
The Oklahoma City Thunder, who are looking to bolster their young squad with more elite talent, enter the NBA Draft on Thursday with two lottery picks and the No. 34 overall pick.
They defied the odds in the draught lottery to advance to the No. 2 pick, and in a group with a clear consensus top three all competing for the No. 1 overall pick — they find themselves in the fortunate position of having their decision largely made for them, choosing from two players, rather than three.
These three players, Jabari Smith of Auburn, Chet Holmgren of Gonzaga, and Paolo Banchero of Duke, all possess star potential and, more importantly, all address the Thunder's biggest area of need in terms of size. They compete to be among the Top 3.
The Thunder are stocked with guards and have two talented backcourt players in Josh Giddey and Shai Gilgeous-Alexander, but they need a big man to improve their play on both sides of the court.
The Thunder needs both size and scoring on the inside with Derrick Favors, Mike Muscala, and 20-year-old challenger Aleksej Pokusevski returning the next season.

Detroit Pistons Reportedly Traded Forward Jerami Grant To Trail Blazers
According to Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN, the Detroit Pistons reportedly traded forward Jerami Grant to the Portland Trail Blazers in trade for a future first-round pick
Detroit Pistons Reportedly Traded Forward Jerami Grant To Trail Blazers
According to some reports and sources, Detroit has dealt Jerami Grant to Portland for a first-round selection in 2025 via Milwaukee. Adrian Wojnarowski (@wojespn) 22nd June 2022.
Detroit Pistons Trade Highlights
The NBA draught for this year has been affected by the trade as well. Detroit traded Portland's second-round pick (the 36th overall pick) for its second-round pick (No. 46 overall).
According to reports, Portland will also return to Detroit a 2025 second-round pick that originally belonged to the Pistons. In a three-team trade involving Luke Kennard and Bruce Brown, Detroit had initially sent that pick to the Los Angeles Clippers in 2020.
Additionally, the Trail Blazers will send Detroit a second-round pick in 2026. The higher pick in 2026 will go to Detroit since Portland will have two second-round picks, one directly from them and one through the New Orleans Pelicans.
Grant's Addition To Portland
Grant's addition to Portland's squad filled a significant need on the team. Beyond Damian Lillard and promising rookie Anfernee Simons, the Trail Blazers don't have many players with the 6-foot-8 forward's versatility and ability to generate his own shot.
After inking a $60 million three-year deal with the Pistons in 2020, Grant scored an average of 22.3 points a game in his debut campaign in the Motor City. He had a disappointing season last year, but the Pistons want to go young and free up more salary room before the draught on Thursday. Dealing with Grant, 25, aids in both those areas.
Additionally, it gives Portland a tremendous boost following a poor campaign in which perennial All-Star Damian Lillard missed a significant portion of the year due...

Stanely Cup: Lightning Take Crucial Game 3 Victory Over Avalanche
Earlier Colorado should have anticipated losing the Stanley Cup goaltending match. When facing great goaltender Andrei Vasilevskiy, the majority of clubs would.
The Avalanche couldn't have afforded to concede goals, but it doesn't mean they should have lost the series; they've demonstrated they can overpower Tampa Bay's skaters.
And that's what happened in Game 3 on Monday, in part because of a lackluster performance by Darcy Kuemper and in part due to defensive lapses.
Stanely Cup: Lightning Take Crucial Game 3 Victory Over Avalanche
Kuemper abandoned the game in the middle of the second frame after allowing five goals on 22 shots. He had stopped 2.25 fewer goals than anticipated, according to Evolving-Hockey.
Jared Bednar, the coach, must now decide whether to remain with Kuemper, who has been the starter for the whole season or go with Pavel Francouz, the No. 2 pitcher, who has six wins this playoff, including all four of Colorado's victories in the Western Conference Finals. After the game, Bednar refused to elaborate on his ideas, saying that the staff would make its choice in the same manner as always.
No one on Nick Paul's new team was particularly surprised when he scored what ended up being the game-winning goal in a 6-2 victory over the Avalanche on Monday night, cutting Tampa Bay's series deficit to 2-1.
Paul, after all, has proven to be a clutch player ever since he joined the Lightning from Ottawa just before the trade deadline, including scoring both goals in a Game 7 win over the Leafs in Round 1.
Even though this is his first postseason appearance as a professional, Paul's coaches claim that due to his stature and poise, he was designed for this time of year.

Kadri’s Overtime Goal, Avs On Verge For Stanley Cup
The Avalanche defeated Tampa Bay 3-2 in Game 4 of the Stanley Cup Final on Wednesday night to move within one victory of unseating the two-time defending champion Lightning.
Avs Got The Catch For Stanley Cup
Nazem Kadri scored at 12:02 of overtime, maybe with too many Colorado players on the ice.TAMPA, Fla. (AP)- Overtime goal has put the Colorado Avalanche within one goal of winning their first Stanley Cup since 2001.
Even if the Tampa Bay Lightning, the two-time defending champions, don't think it should have counted.
The Avalanche are now just one victory away from winning their first championship in over 20 years thanks to a goal by Kadri at 12:02 of the extra period in Game 4 of the Stanley Cup Final, which Colorado won 3-2.
Lightning coach Jon Cooper implied that the winning goal shouldn't have been permitted without saying directly that Tampa Bay believed Colorado had too many men on the ice.
According to a statement from the NHL, the on-ice officials can decide whether to impose a penalty. All four referees agreed that they did not observe an instance of too many men on the ice during the winning play. There will be no video review of the call.
The Return Of Kadri
After missing action since June 4 due to a thumb injury, Kadri returned to the lineup and gave Colorado a 3-1 series lead with a shot that went under Andrei Vasilevskiy's right arm.
The Avalanche outscored the Lightning 11-3 in the extra frame. After Vasilevskiy stopped Logan O'Connor on a breakaway, Colorado had a shot clang off the post and the other hit the crossbar before Kadri scored.
The Match Highlights.
The Lightning took a 1-0 lead in regulation thanks to goals from Victor Hedman and Anthony Cirelli. With a 2-1 advantage, they went into the third period.

NFL Legend Tony 'Goose' Siragusa Dies At Age 55
After going undrafted in that year's Draft, "The Goose" signed with the Indianapolis Colts and played for them for seven seasons before switching to the Baltimore Ravens. Before quitting in 2001, he went on to assist the Maryland team in capturing their first Super Bowl.
Siragusa, a former defensive tackle, went on to have a prosperous career as a sideline analyst for FOX, in addition to presenting a number of television programs and dabbling in acting.
He turned 55 in May, and according to Aaron Wilson of the Pro Football Network, he passed away in his sleep. Ravens legend Ray Lewis said that From the first day they met, he knew that life was different.
He knew that Siragusa was someone who would change his life forever.
He was a one-of-a-kind individual who gave you a sense of significance and exclusivity. A man like that is impossible to replace. He was the ultimate competitor on the field, inspiring the best in each of us.
Brad Jackson, a different ex-Ravens teammate, claimed that Siragusa "was the leader." Our captain, he was. To everyone, he meant the world. Sad day today. They recently spoke on Sunday and this sudden loss was awful.
After Baltimore was mentioned in the first season of HBO's Hard Knocks, many NFL fans began to respect Siragusa.

Tony Buzbee States Lawsuits Filed Against Deshaun Watson!
According to an announcement from lawyer Tony Buzbee on Tuesday, quarterback for the Cleveland Browns Deshaun Watson has resolved all but four of the lawsuits brought against him.
Attorney Tony Buzbee States That 20 of 24 Lawsuits Filed Against Deshaun Watson Settled
25 lawsuits claiming sexual assault and other inappropriate actions during massage sessions have been brought against Watson since March 16, 2021. One of the 25 was discarded by the plaintiff when the judge ordered that her petition be revised to include her name. The other 20, according to Buzbee, have been resolved.
Buzbee On The Case
"The documentation for those settlements is now being processed. We will dismiss those specific instances after we have done so. Settlement conditions and amounts are kept private. We won't make any more comments about the agreements or those cases." Buzbee reported in a statement.
Buzbee also put forth his views by saying that without the players' candor and willingness to speak up, the NFL wouldn't be considering punishment, there wouldn't be a look at how teams may knowingly or unknowingly support specific behavior, and sports organizations wouldn't be reviewing their hiring procedures, and this significant story wouldn't have dominated the sports headlines for more than a year.
Ashley Soils A Hero?
Buzbee pointed out that Ashley Solis, who was the first plaintiff in Watson's complaint and the first to speak out publicly about it, was not among the 20 women who reached settlements.
The judge praises Ashley as he said "... Ashley Solis is one of the heroes of this story. Her case hasn't been resolved, therefore the other three courageous women's stories as well as her own will go on. Regarding other docket commitments and the court's timetable, I look forward to trying these cases when the time is right."
